Conor Oberst is currently on tour; so what better way to celebrate that fact than to sell a special tour only EP? The four song Gentleman's Pact EP is a fitting companion to Oberst's new self-titled solo album that came out this August, showcasing the full spectrum of his musical talent. Opening with the typical americana folk that he is known for on the title track, Oberst soon settles into his comfort zone with the next track, "Synesthete Song," a bombastically layered jam that broods with jagged guitars and Oberst's wailing vocals. "Corina Corina" follows with old-timey piano and some excellent bluesy guitar riffs, and has Oberst channeling his inner Bob Dylan more than ever. The final track, "Breezy," may not live up to its title, but it makes up for that with Oberst's insightful lyrics and gentle piano melodies.
