Mia Vigar - True Adventures Happen Inside Your Head (2008)

IF you love your offbeat, enchanting, ephemeral Scandinavian pop, you might just have found your new favourite singer. Very much out of the Stina Nordenstam/Concretes school of music, Mia Vigar might already be familiar to some music aficionados as Luma Lane and True Adventures, but this is the Finno-English, Luton-born star's first solo album … and it's nothing short of magical.

I have to confess a real penchant for this genre of music; it's ability to transport you to Scandinavian forests or snow-capped mountains, to ease and soothe the troubles of daily life. It's pure escapism and utterly beguiling. But you need a truly special voice to generate this world of peace and tranquillity, and Mia Vigar is just such a talent.

Several astute collaborations, including David Brewis (Field Music/School Of Language) and various members of Sennen, The Lost Levels and Master Solo, offer several more intriguing levels to the music, which is completely spellbinding and bewitching. It's so eclectic as well. There's more than just one sound going on here as Mia experiments with music and vocals for a really rich experience. Superb!
