Major label expatriates and rogue rockers …And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead announce the release of a new EP – Festival Thyme – out October 21st, 2008 on the band’s Richter Scale Records imprint on Justice Records. The EP will be available digitally worldwide and physically in Europe and the United Kingdom via a licensing agreement with the German based Superball Music, to which the band joined forces with earlier this Spring.
Festival Thyme features all new songs including the symphonic “Bells of Creation” (Machete Mix) (a different version of this will appear on the band’s full-length due out January 2009). In addition, there will be a limited edition 10” vinyl picture disc (available in the US only via Justice/Richter Scale) that will include a cover of The Replacements’ “Within Your Reach” while the digital and physical releases will contain a version of the track “Inland Sea.”
Recorded in Spring 2008 in Austin, TX with Mike McCarthy (Spoon, Patty Griffin) at The Mob House and Chris “Frenchie” Smith (Sixteen Deluxe, Smog, Jet) at The Bubble, Chris Coady (TV on the Radio, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Grizzly Bear) contributed his skills to producing the full-length at Mission Studios in Brooklyn. Trail of Dead are currently finishing up production on the record, with Coady mixing it at his brand new DNA Studio, located in NYC.
With each release, Trail of Dead challenge themselves and their audiences and this new EP promises to be no exception. jivemagazine
