Turin to fete Kusturica, American Zoetrope (Variety)

ROME -- The Turin Film Festival will be feting helmer Emir Kusturica and Francis Ford Coppola's production company, American Zoetrope, during its upcoming 27th edition.

Kusturica will be on hand to receive Turin's new "8 1/2" nod, inspired by Federico Fellini's influential pic. The Sarajevo-born two-time Cannes Palme d'Or winner will bring previously unseen outtakes of his "Time of the Gypsies" and "Arizona Dream," and an eight-hour-plus director's cut of "Underground."

Coppola, who is also a two-time Palme d'Or winner, is expected in Turin to pick up a "8 1/2" nod, awarded to American Zoetrope, and for the Italo preem of his latest work "Tetro," to be released in Italy by BIM.

The fest, headed this year by auteur Gianni Amelio, will also screen Coppola's "Rumblefish," and a freshly restored print of 1948 classic "The Red Shoes," by British directorial duo Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger, a film that Coppola pays homage to in "Tetro."

The fest, which is dedicated to indie cinema, will run Nov. 13-21.
