Born in Denville, New Jersey on November 2, 1968, country-rock songwriter Neal Casal enjoyed an acclaimed solo career before joining Ryan Adam’s backing band, The Cardinals , in the mid-2000s. Pulled between tours as a member of The Cardinals and the album Cardinology, Neal Casal found the time to record his new album. On this album, Neal returns to his folk and Americana environments which made Basement Dreams and The Sun Rises Here so great. It’s essentially a folk rock records, recorded with a large group of new and old friends based on both west and east costs. His influences are still drawn from Neil Young, Gram Parsons and seventies Stones. Roots & Wings was recorded in December 2007 and June 2008 in Lafayette, Los Angeles and Brooklyn.
