"Gigante", de Adrián Biniez, coproducción argentino-uruguaya en competencia en Berlín


Como "Whisky" o "La perrera", "Gigante" se trata de una coproducción entre Argentina y Uruguay (y en este caso Alemania) en llegar a festivales internacionales. La pequeña diferencia es que el director, Adrián Biniez, es argentino. Desconozco casi todo respecto de la película --abajo hay una síntesis en inglés que encontré online-- y aquí va, junto al resto de la programación de competencia anunciada por el Festival, con titulos de Stephen Frears, Costa-Gavras, Andrzej Wajda y Francois Ozon y la peruana Claudia Llosa, entre otros.

Sinopsis

Jara, a big and shy supermarket security guard, discovers a cleaning
woman through the surveillance cameras and falls in love with her.
Soon, Jara's life starts to turn into a series of rituals and routines around the woman and the desire to get to know her.

Competition of Berlinale 2009 Almost Complete

26 films will participate in the Competition programme of the 59th Berlin International Film Festival, 25 of which have already been confirmed. In addition to the eleven titles announced earlier (see press releases from November 28 and December 12, 2008), another 14 films have now been invited.

These include productions from Argentina , Denmark , Germany , France , Greece , Great Britain , Italy , Iran , Peru , Poland , Romania , Spain , Hungary , Uruguay and USA .

“With their very distinctive artistic styles, the films of the 2009 Competition provide evidence of living conditions in our globalized world. We are also pleased to present many world premieres again this year”, comments Berlinale Director Dieter Kosslick.
