Drug-sludge Canadian band Black Mountain dropped this unexpected favorite 45 late last year. I’ve always liked what they do, its just that their moments of genius tend to be bookended by a lot of filler. A LOT of slow moving, hookless filler. This record on the other hand couldn’t be more solid, two ripper tracks that had me picking up the needle over and over again. Rootsy, bluesy, stoney, riff-heavy jams with their near perfect man/woman (not “boy/girl” btw, that shit is for twee sissies) vocals. If they can pull together an album this solid I’ll buy two. This one was limited to 1500 copies in a 7″ series and is long out of print, so I’m don’t feel bad posting it up.
